1. How do I install the iTrail GPS logger / connect it to my PC?
1. Please insert the CD into you CD room, click to run and run the iTrail Installer.exe file, and then plug the iTrail GPS logger device plugged into the USB port on your PC to finish the installation.
2. Please check whether you have installed successfully. Please go to "Control Panel" choose
"System", choose "Hardware", choose "Device Manager"; there should be "GPS Logger USB Com Port(COMxx)" under "Ports (COM&LPT). (please refer to the picture below)
Please note:
1. If you have any firewall software installed, please try disabling those. One of these programs could be blocking the communication between the phone and the PC.
2. Please be aware that iTrail GPS logger has to be plugged in directly to the USB port on the computer system instead of going through a hub or a docking station.--> They might decrease the transmission of electric current for charging.
3. Please just plug the iTrail GPS logger in the same USB port on the PC, don't change USB port to plug in. Because our products are not Plug-and-Play.
4.If this still does not resolve the problem, please try unplug and re-plug in the iTrail GPS logger. Installing the iTrail GPS logger on a different USB port.
5. "Don't plug the connector in too hard"! Some users would plug the reverse side of the the connector into the bottom of iTrail GPS logger device. It might damage the power ic (integrated circuit).
If you still have the problem, please try on another PC. Or reset your iTrail GPS logger from the iTrail PC software. Or you might contact the us to check this device. If the device was damaged and still in one-year warranty, we will exchange one for you.
6. Open iTrail PC software, connect the iTrail GPS logger with the PC. Then you can download the waypoint data when the connection is successful.
2. How can I make sure there are no driver conflicts with my system?
Please confirm the following when you connect the iTrail GPS logger with the PC:
(1) When you connect the iTrail GPS logger with the PC, the red LED indicator will stay and the blue LED indicator blink.
(2) When you open the iTrail PC software, it will detect the iTrail GPS logger device automatically.
(3) Please go to "Control Panel" choose "System", choose "Hardware", choose "Device Manager"; to see if there is"GPS Logger USB Com Port(COMxx)" under "Ports (COM&LPT). (please refer to the picture below)

iTrail GPS logger driver and iTrail PC software currently only support Windows 2000 / XP Home / Pro / Vista and Windows 7.

1. What might cause the iTrail GPS Logger to have difficulty acquiring my location?
A successful GPS fix requires a clear sky to complete, especially when you initialize or "cold start" the iTrail GPS logger. Surrounded by the high buildings, being inside a tunnel, or in an environment with strong RF interferences might cause difficulty in acquiring a GPS signal for your iTrail GPS logger.
2. How long will it take the iTrail GPS logger to locate my position and start recording after turning on the power?
If you turn on the power of iTrail GPS logger after switched off more than 4 hours, the iTrail GPS logger needs to take about 40 seconds or above to fix the GPS position.
If you switched off the iTrail GPS logger less than 4 hours, the iTrail GPS logger's next switch on needs only 10~20 seconds to fix the GPS position. When the GPS position of the iTrail GPS logger has been fixed, the blue LED indicator will blink once and both indicators continue blinking twice simultaneously.
3. Why there is no response when I press the iTrail GPS logger button?
Please check the power status of the device. If the iTrail GPS logger has low power, the button will be locked.

You can record up to 120 hours of data. Note: Data may vary with the different environment.

5. How do I know when the iTrail GPS Logger memory is full or the battery has run down?
Memory is full:
The red LED indicator blinks every 3 seconds.
Low Battery :
The red LED indicator blinks every 5 seconds, the iTrail GPS logger stopped tracking.

6. How do I adjust time of the iTrail GPS logger?
The time on your iTrail GPS logger is automatically set by the GPS satellites when a GPS fix is acquired. This ensures that the time is always correct on your device.

7. Will the time record change if I cross into a different time zone?
Since the time on your iTrail GPS logger is automatically set by the GPS satellites that it is connected to, if you cross another time zone, the iTrail GPS logger will automatically adjust the time.

8. Can I change the battery of the iTrail GPS logger?
In order to make the iTrail water-resistant, the iTrail GPS logger is manufactured in a tightly-sealed housing which does not allow for the battery to be removed or replaced.

9. How long can I use the Trail GPS logger on a single battery charge?
The battery life will depend upon the tracking interval of iTrail GPS logger. Please refer to the iTrail GPS logger battery life chart below to estimate the battery life for your iTrail GPS logger:

10. Is the iTrail resistant to water or moisture?
The iTrail GPS logger is manufactured to be "outdoor waterproof", which means that it is resistant to normal rain and moisture conditions outside. It is not "underwater proof", meaning that it cannot be submerged under water.

11. How do I reset the iTrail GPS logger?
You can reset your iTrail GPS logger via iTrail PC software. Simply select the “Hardware Settings” option, then click the “Reset” button to reset.
Note: If you click the “Reset” button, it will clear all data, include the logged data and settings.

1. How do I activate my iTrail GPS logger?
On first use, the user must activate the iTrail. To activate, click 'Help' on menu bar and select 'Activate iTrail'.
The user is asked to enter details for Software Key and Activation Key (this info is found on the box).

2. How to change the logging interval time?
Click Setup Device
, if logger is already connected, Device Setup shows green indication otherwise it shows red indication. Connect logger if is not connected, please wait a while until Device Setup does not show green indication. Then, you can change the interval time.

3. How do I import the data from iTrail GPS logger into iTrail PC software?
Please follow the steps as below to import data from iTrail GPS logger.
a. Connect GPS Logger to PC.
b. You will get following popup window:

c. Click on 'Yes' button
d. iTrail software will start downloading data from iTrail unit.
e. If device is empty or data has already downloaded, the application displays 'No new Report Available' message.

f. After successfully reading data from the logger, iTrail opens Memory Info window, following which the report will be generated. After report generation, it opens Trip Info window to specify trip name, vehicle info and driver info.
g. After submitting Current Configuration, it opens Map in right hand side. (Please note that for Map to be displayed, internet connection is required)

Memory Info
Shows available memory of the GPS logger in Kilobytes(KBs) or Megabytes(MBs) (depending on the data available in logger)

There is a ‘Clear Device’ button to remove the logger data.
Trip Info
This pop-up window asks user to enter following data:
Trip Name
Used to enter the name for the trip. Trip name will be used to view report further.
Vehicle Info
Used to select the Vehicle information. Vehicle info will be displayed in various reports. If you haven’t added any vehicles, you can use ‘Add Vehicle’ button to add new vehicle. Newly added vehicle can be used for further downloaded data.

Driver Info:
Used to select Driver’s name. Driver name will be displayed in various reports. If you haven’t added any drivers, you can use ‘Add Driver’ button to add new driver. Newly added driver can be used for further downloaded data.

If logger is not registered yet with iTrail, iTrail creates entry for the logger in ‘Logger’ table at Left hand side.

You can rename the default logger name by right click on logger entry.


iTrail creates entry of downloaded trip in bottom left hand side table.
4. How do I backup/export my initial track data?
iTrail PC software provides following report format to export:
PDF
- (PDF reader)
The PDF report shows details of Date, Departed from, Arrived at, Total driving time, Total distance, Maximum speed, and Above speed limit Above time duration.
Trip details are for Departure Time, Trip Duration Time, Arrival Time, Location Arrived, Distance Covered and Stop Time.
HTML
- (Browser)
The HTML report shows details of Date, Departed from, Arrived at, Total driving time, Total distance, Maximum speed, and Above speed limit Above time duration.
Trip details are for Departure Time, Driving Time, Arrival Time, Location Arrived, Distance Covered and Stop Time.
MS-Word
- (Microsoft Word)
The Word report shows details of Date, Departed from, Arrived at, Total driving time, Total distance, Maximum speed, and Above speed limit Above time duration.
Trip details are for Departure Time, Driving Time, Arrival Time, Location Arrived, Distance Covered and Stop Time.
SKX - iTrail (Please note, we can export SKX and send it to other user(s) and vice-versa to generate report by Import.)
KML
- (Google Earth)
The KML shows the trip in Google Earth.
CSV
- (Microsoft Excel)
The CSV report contains the raw record which was downloaded from logger. Raw record contains Date, Time, Latitude, Longitude, Altitude, Speed, Distance and Course of each logged record.
GPX
- (Any GPX reader/ Google Earth)
The GPX report shows raw GPS records from the logger.
You can access the Export options from main menu also.

5. How can I see the trip with Google Earth?
Click the Google Earth
button on the main menu after the track data downloaded, then you can show the trip track in Google Earth.
